Description

I managed to grab 20 x 300s subs each of S2 and O3 to add to my 35 x 300s subs in Ha to create an SHO image - it turned out better than expected so I am very happy. For those people who do not know it, SHO stands for Sulfur 2, Hydrogen-Alpha and Oxygen 3 emission spectral lines that have been colour mapped to RGB - as NASA started doing with the Hubble Telescope - creating a form of colour standard for narrow band images. See https://hubblesite.org/contents/articles/the-meaning-of-light-and-color for more info.

See https://www.astrobin.com/w33q5q/D/ for this image solely in Ha which is in some ways more nuanced (I find that adding the other colours causes my eyes to miss some fine details - they are obviously still there but the colours distract me)  - in this case I find the SHO pallet provides a nice 3D look to some of the cloud structures ... enjoy!
